  • The work plan of the New York State Office of the Medicaid Inspector General (OMIG) provides brief descriptions of activities that the agency plans to initiate or continue during New York State fiscal year 2012-13. This document describes the primary objectives and goals for each of nine business line teams outlined in the plan. It is intended as a guide to OMIG's work through March 31, 2013 and to enhance transparency and communication between OMIG and policymakers, providers, taxpayers, and other state agencies.

  • An investigation by the New York State Commission on Quality of Care and Advocacy for Persons with Disabilities (CQC) has resulted in the recovery of $153,491.22 in Medicaid funds overbilled to the state by Guest House Community Services, a Peekskill-based provider of services to adults and children with developmental disabilities. Guest House agreed to repay the money under the terms of a settlement agreement reached with the Office of the Medicaid Inspector General (OMIG). full article

  • Patient recruiter pleads guilty in $3.5 million DME scheme: Marcella Eraifej, a defendant in the U.S. Department of Justice Medicare Fraud Strike Force case against Jayson Drugs, pled guilty to a one-count indictment on May 20, 2011, at the Eastern District of New York, Central Islip. Eraifej recruited Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries at food banks located in churches in Yonkers to receive "free shoes," ultimately paid for by Medicaid and/or Medicare. OMIG's Division of Medicaid Investigations took part in the Strike Force action.

  • Senator Kirsten Gillibrand Visits Salient, Learns About OMIG/Salient Partnership: On June 3, New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand traveled to the Elmira/Horseheads region and stopped into the offices of Salient.
